“Our 2018 gala took place at a venue with an art deco look. Our goal was to merge that funky aesthetic with our established visual identity.”

Kicking this gala into gear.

Brooklyn Workforce Innovations (BWI) is an old friend of Great Believer’s. This inspiring organization puts unemployed New Yorkers on stable career paths – and we were honored to create a website that properly showcases this mission.

The Gala in Gotham is BWI’s annual benefit – the organization’s marquee event. This year’s rendition was held at 501 Union, a charming Brooklyn venue with an undeniable art deco vibe. BWI’s visual identity centers around a gear…perhaps the furthest thing from art deco. But hey, we love a good challenge.

Drawing inspiration from The Great Gatsby, we designed a gala logo that marries the gear aesthetic with a custom typeface and playful illustrations. This art deco motif spreads across a host of gala materials, including the save the date, invitation, program and signage.

Our event branding matched the venue’s aesthetic without losing sight of BWI’s visual DNA. We hope this project lived up to Jay Gatsby’s famous saying: “Good work, old sport.”

“Great Believer’s creative designs made for exciting materials and a successful event!”
